Engage with the Franke Institute for the Humanities by listening to a faculty member deliver a talk in the ‘Franke Forum’ series or reading about the Franke fellows’ research projects in the newsletters. Visit the gallery of images from the Franke 25th anniversary symposium, other events, and courses. With a UChicago affiliation, listen to an ‘Every Wednesday’ talk.
On one afternoon each quarter through 2019, University alumni and friends gather downtown at the Gleacher Center for a public lecture by a distinguished member of the faculty, with discussion and reception following. These signature events were supported for over twenty years by the generosity of the Humanities Council of the University of Chicago.
The Every Wednesday Luncheon series connects faculty to the work of their colleagues in the humanities and the humanistic social sciences. On Wednesdays at noon during the academic year, a faculty member gives an informal talk on current research over a catered lunch, followed by group discussion.
These annual newsletters of the Franke Institute highlight each year’s special projects and events, including fellows’ research, conferences and lectures, and courses. The newsletters also preview the upcoming year’s fellows and events.
